Liminal Spaces
This project is a unique exploration of the negotiation of gaps in architecture. This project focused on magnifying these gaps through the use of misfit configurations of chamfer and 90 degree angles, where the collision and disappearance of matter occurs.
Through a set of operations including displacing, overlapping, and imprinting, a new set of spaces is created that suggests both absence and presence, as well as density and weightlessness. The packing and unpacking of parts produces fake connections, joints, and voids that can be inhabited, creating a sense of intrigue and mystery within the space.
The exchange between gaps or interstices and the spaces that produce them - these liminal and often unnoticed spaces - are of primary interest in this project. This project has created a unique and thought-provoking space that challenges traditional notions of architecture and encourages visitors to explore and engage with the space in new and exciting ways.
Overall, this project is a testament to the power of innovative design and creative thinking. By exploring the negotiation of gaps and the spaces that produce them, this exploration has created a space that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing, while also challenging traditional notions of architecture and encouraging visitors to engage with the space in new and exciting ways.
